The Arnprior\McNab Devil Tween B Ringette team were unbeaten in their division at Nepean’s 18th annual Ringette Tournament and in doing so brought Arnprior\McNab home the Gold.

In all 98 teams competed on 6 ice surfaces from Nov 18 thru 21 in one of the provinces bigger Ringette Tournaments of the season.

Feeling lucky to have a Friday off school, the Devils were lined up against the host Nepean team at the Walter Baker Arena, the Devils goaltender Kenzie Martin was solid in nets allowing 3 goals while her team scored 5

During the 5–3 win Kelsey Budarick had 2 goals while Amanda Milne, Lindsey Graham-McCourt and Stephanie Baker contributed a goal each.

Next the Devils were at the Nepean Sportsplex to host their neighbours Upper Ottawa Valley, this time Kenzie Martin’s goaltending kept the Devils in the game until Kelsey Budarick put a low stick side shot past UOV’s goalie to put the Devils up by a goal. After this Shelby-Lyn Miller’s shot found a hole making it 2 nothing before UOV answered with a single goal. When UOV pulled their goalie Arnprior’s Megan Bowen put the icing on the cake with a powerful shot from center ice giving Arnprior a 3-1 victory.

Saturday morning found the Devils going down Hwy 17 to the Merivale Arena to face the league leading Ottawa club.

Not yet having faced Ottawa the Devil girls were anxious to come out strong and this they did. Kelsey Budarick again opened the scoring with a quick goal followed by 2 more in the first period by Shelby-Lyn Miller. Ottawa finally solved the problem posed by Arnprior\McNab goaltender Kenzie Martin with 2 goals in the final period only to watch Lindsey Graham-McCourt smoke a point shot over the outstretched left pad of the Ottawa goaltender making the final tally Arnprior\McNab 4 Ottawa 2.

As Arnprior\McNab was undefeated one may think the championship was in the bag. As it turned out this was not the case as they were facing Metcalfe in the final game. The Metcalfe team had beat Arnprior\McNab 2 Saturday’s in a row with the last game at Metcalfe in the Larry Robinson arena where Arnprior\McNab was given an 8-3 trimming the weekend before.

It would seem fate placed these 2 teams against each other for the 3rd Saturday evening in a row with Metcalfe winning the first 2 and dominating Arnprior at that.

The Walter Baker Arena was the venue and Arnprior\McNab came out seeming tired from their 3 winning performances, all that is except for goaltender Kenzie Martin. Undaunted by a 10 minute stretch in the opening period which the ring rarely left the Devils zone it seemed Kenzie rallied her team with save after save. As so often seems the case an MVP performance by a goaltender results in her own team breaking out of the zone only to be uplifted by a goal which seems to stun the other team. This time Arnprior’s defence fired the ring up ice and Kelsey Budarick was alone and more than a match for the Metcalfe goalie who had only watched the game so far. Shortly thereafter Kelsey did an around from behind the net manoeuvre to put Arnprior\McNab up by 2.

Metcalfe came back with a goal to make it a one-goal game only to see Arnprior’s Amanda Milne go stick side low with a shot from high in the slot to make it 3-1 Arnprior. Yet it seemed Metcalfe would not give in. With the Devils shorthanded Metcalfe pressed and made it 3-2, a one goal game again with under 3 minutes left.   After a weekend of excellent fore checking Arnprior\McNab’s Stephanie Baker was rewarded when she flipped a back hand up an off the Metcalfe goalie’s helmet to put the Devils up 4-2. The game was not over; Arnprior being shorthanded was still under pressure. With just less than 2 minutes left in the game Metcalfe pulled their goalie and scored to make it a one-goal game once again. Arnprior\McNab managed to clear the zone and even shorthanded came out victorious 4-3 to win Nepean's 18th Annual Ringette Tournament.

Congratulations Arnprior\McNab Devil Tween B girls.

Nov. 8, 2005 - Arnprior Chronical article

Winter is upon us and with it come a new season of sports. The Arnprior/McNab Ringette Association have done an excellent job of preparing for the new season. In order to give our girls some new skills and some early conditioning we had our 2nd Annual Eastern Ontario Ringette Camp.

Originally spearheaded by our association, after watching the first camp we decided to  have the Ottawa University Ringette team supply all instructors and counsellors and left our players in the excellent hands of Head Instructor Aisling Lanigan.
The camp was a huge success with girls  from all over the Valley  in attendance.

As a new season is upon us we are looking for new recruits particularly at the Bunny age which is 6 years of age and under. This is our learn to skate program and we allow parents on the ice with their kids or the parents can relax and just watch as we have very capable instructors on the ice as well

Novice C1 (ages 9 and under)
The Arnprior/McNab Devils were hosted by Clarence/Rockland for the season opener where the Devlis spoiled the home teams evening by posting a 7 -4 win.

In return for their efforts the Devil team were at home in Arnprior the next 2 games where they lost  7 - 3  and the next game 8 - 1 to Gloucester and Metcalfe respectively.

Tween C (ages 13 and under)

The Tween C Devil opened on the road at the Ray Friel arena where they earned a point with a hard fought  2 all tie against Gloucester.

For their home opener the Tween C girls welcomed Kingston to Arnprior by beating them 3 - 2.

Tween B (ages 13 and under)

The first league action our Tween B girls had was a double header in Cobden. The first match saw Arnprior/McNab goalie Kenzie Martin turn back everything  Upper Ottawa Valley had to throw at her getting a well deserved shut out and then only allowing 2 goals in a hard fought 2 all tie in the second game.

Gatineau travelled to Arnprior hoping to spoil the Devils home opener only to be disappointed losing  3- 2 to the Devils.

Junior B (ages 15 and under)

Arnprior's Junior B girls opened the season at home with a solid effort  all around and especially from their goalie  Courtney Courchesne who recorded the shut out in a 2 - 0 win. The next game  was a loss at the hands of the Kingston girls with a score of  5 - 2.

Belle A (ages 18 and under)

The Belle girls, who are our oldest competitors are also our only team competing at the "A" level, opened at home to the  Nepean Belle team where the Arnprior/McNab team was beaten 6 - 2. They did not fare much better the next day when they travelled to Gatineau only to lose 5 - 4 in a close contest .
