Devils win Gold in
Nepean (date: November 21, 2004)
Arnprior-McNab Ringette Association’s Petite B team won
gold at Nepean’s 17th annual Ringette tournament on November 21,
2004. The 10 and 11 year old girls lost their first game 4-2 Friday afternoon
to their West Ottawa rivals. Audrey McMann and Danielle Avery scored the two
goals, with Danielle also earning an
assist. The loss did not set the girls back as they came out strong, wining
both games on Saturday. Their first game Saturday brought them a win of 7-4
against Metcalfe. Audrey McMann, Amanda Milne and Kelci Cape each earned two
goals. Kayla Collins had one goal and an assist. Assists also went to Avery
Laventure, Danielle Avery, and Amanda Milne. In the afternoon, the Devils won
their third game against Nepean, 5-3. Amanda
and Audrey each scored one goal, with Danielle
earning a hat trick. Assists went to Kelci,
Audrey, and Kaitlyn Buske. Erin Kippen was strong on defence, and
Samantha Chambers played an awesome offensive game. With two wins and one loss,
the girls had to wait until late that evening for the other five teams to finish
their round robin. With 4 points, the team placed second in the round robin and
advanced to the final game on Sunday, against West Ottawa. It was one of those
very exciting, nail biting games. In the first period, Kelly Foster of West
Ottawa scored the first goal, assisted by Jessica Harkes. Amanda Milne from
Arnprior tied the game, assisted by Kayla Collins and Avery Laventure. With 3
minutes left in the first period, Jessica Harkes scored West Ottawa’s second
goal. With 5:32 left in the second period, Kayla Collins assisted by Amanda
Milne snuck the ring past the goalie in the right corner. For the rest of the
period, everyone played a fantastic defensive and offensive game, shutting the
West Ottawa team out. Arnprior won gold. Katherine Craig and Kaitlyn Buske
were strong in the nets throughout the whole weekend. Special thanks to a great
bench staff of Barry Cape, Susan Avery and Terry Milne.
